First Nations and Inuit Education (FNIE)

The Faculty of Education collaborates with various Indigenous communities and institutions offering programs whose courses are given either at Æ»¹ûÒùÔº or off campus. In collaboration with the Kativik School Board, the Cree School Board, the Kahnawake Education Centre, Kanehsatake Education Centre and various other Indigenous communities in Quebec, FNIE delivers field-based teacher education programs leading to initial teacher certification and to the Bachelor of Education for Certified Teachers degree. FNIE also works with departments to meet other educational needs of Indigenous peoples.

Bachelor of Education for Certified Teachers — Elementary Education — Native and Northern (90 credits)

This 90-credit program is designed for teachers who are already certified to teach in elementary schools and who wish to earn a Bachelor of Education degree. This 30-credit program provides training to assist mainstream teachers in becoming more effective teachers in First Nations and Inuit communities.
