Aerodynamics, Fluid dynamics, and Propulsion

ƻԺ

MIAE conducts research across a broad range of aerodynamics and propulsion topics, from understanding the performance of wings and rotors in the ice-cold Canadian climate, to developing sustainable alternative aerospace fuels using metal powders. Our researchers have expertise in experimental, theoretical, and numerical methods, spanning the incompressible and compressible flow regimes. Examples include experimental aero-acoustics, theoretical modelling of bounded and free-shear flows, and developing novel computational algorithms to optimize the shape of wings and rotors. These are applied to small-scale multi rotor vehicles and large-scale commercial aircraft alike.
