Advanced Materials and Manufacturing Processes

ƻԺ

Sustainable growth of the sector relies on discovering stronger, lighter, and more resilient aerospace materials, as well as efficient means to manufacture components from them. MIAE researchers are leaders in novel surface engineering solutions to mitigate wear in aerospace components, including from ice adhesion, as well as advanced additive manufacturing techniques of real-scale aerospace components that meet strict certification requirements. Our researchers are also pushing the boundaries of structural health monitoring of aerospace components, as well as the integration of advanced multifunctional materials and hierarchical metamaterials.
