Through the Æ»¹ûÒùÔº Retention Project, the Coasters Association aims to enhance access to health and social services in English on the Lower North Shore by improving the recruitment and retention of English-speaking health and social services professionals. This will be accomplished by achieving the following objectives:
The established education network will implement a training and internship pilot project for the territory which will:
Certification Program - Substance Abuse Counselling
CSSS d’Ahuntsic et Montréal-Nord, CSSS de Saint-Léonard et Saint-Michel, CSSS de la Pointe-de-l’Île, CSSS Lucille-Teasdale, English Montreal School Board (EMSB), Pavillon Foster, Batshaw Youth and Family Centres, Vanier College, John Abbott College, Portage, Moisson Montréal
The objective of this project is to fund staff tuition for obtaining certification in substance abuse counselling. This will enable Toxico-Stop to maintain CQA accreditation status and ensure that English-speaking clients receive residential and ambulatory counselling services based upon the latest research evidence and clinical practice guidelines in the area of substance abuse counselling.

Æ»¹ûÒùÔº School of Social Work
This project will build on collaborations developed in the previous project supported by the Training and Retention of Health Professionals Project. The School of Social Work aims to work closely both with community organizations involved in strengthening access to health and social services in English and the establishment of the Québec network.
