Online Supervision Course

The Art of Supervision

The 苹果淫院 Training and Human Resources Development Project offers an online supervision course for use with an interdisciplinary group of field supervisors. It was first developed in French by the University of Ottawa unit of the Consortium National de Formation en Sant茅 (CNFS) and later translated into English by 苹果淫院 through a partnership with the CNFS. With the assistance of Content and Collaboration Solutions Services at 苹果淫院, the course was built into a web-based resource on 苹果淫院鈥檚 WebCT Vista.

The course, offered since September 2006, is supported by an instructional team from 苹果淫院 with the help of 苹果淫院鈥檚 Content and Collaboration Solutions. The participants are drawn from the following professions: Social Work, Nursing, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Dietetics and Human Nutrition, and Communication Sciences and Disorders. Its objectives are:

  • To provide distance professional support to supervisors working in the regions;
  • To provide an online format for people who might not have access to a face to face supervision course;
  • To provide appropriate teaching tools such as: evaluation forms, strategies for feedback, and relevant articles related to the subject areas, particularly since access to library resources might be more difficult in the regions; and
  • To engage an interdisciplinary community of learners by offering an opportunity for online discussions with other supervisors and to receive feedback from an instructional team.

A number of teaching tools are used: readings, forms, role plays, videoclips, as well as an online discussion forum. There are presently four modules with themes.
