Undergraduate Studies in Classics

Classical Studies is inherently interdisciplinary, offering聽courses in聽Latin and Ancient Greek at all levels as well as in聽Greco-Roman Literature, History, Archaeology. Religion, Philosophy and Culture.听Students may complete an聽undergraduate program聽in Classics聽(Minor, Major, Honors, Joint Honors Concentration) by selecting from聽Classics courses (CLAS) and聽History courses (HIST) that聽focus聽on ancient聽Greece or Rome in addition to聽courses聽in several related disciplines in the Faculty of Arts such as聽Philosophy, English, and Art History.听A list of courses聽that may be counted toward a Classics program, including courses offered in other departments, can be found here聽and in聽the聽university eCalendar.

Students may聽also聽complete an undergraduate program聽in History focusing on聽ancient Greek and聽Roman History.

Consult the聽History Programs聽page聽for program requirements. Students who are considering graduate studies in ancient history are strongly encouraged to take ancient Greek and Latin language courses in addition to their history program. Classics course pertaining to the study of modern Greek Language and Literature may be counted towards the Minor聽program in Modern聽Greek Studies.听
