The conference-experiences organized by CIRM, in partnership with various organizations in the metropolis, are an opportunity to discover unique places through the people who inhabit hem. The audience is thus invited to meet and discuss with various local actors, researchers, and citizens who contribute in one way or another to the development of these living environments. The conference-experiences are presented in English or French, open to all, and presented two or three times a year depending on the current program.

As part of the consultation on the future of Griffintown undertaken by the Office de consultation publique de Montr茅al (), CIRM organized a charrette open to university students in urban planning and urban studies in Montr茅al. The objective of this charrette was to make an assessment of the development of Griffintown according to the vision of the Programme particulier d'urbanisme (PPU) and to propose different avenues for the planning of the public domain to realize this vision.

Today's urban populations in Canada present changing combinations of nationalities, ethnic origins, languages, religions, ages, genders, legal status, classes and human capital. These changing combinations of demographic characteristics create conditions of "superdiversity," a concept that emphasizes that current patterns of diversity are substantially replacing those that once prevailed.
