Just like Québec, Euskal Herria (Basque Country) distinguishes itself by its language, culture, and history. The Elbira-Zipitria Chair in Basque Studies inaugural colloquium proposes a day filled with discussions and workshops on Québécois and Basque perspectives when it comes to language teaching, planning, and usage. It is aimed at researchers, students, and practitioners who are interested in minority/minoritized languages.

The establishment of the Elbira-Zipitria Chair in Basque Studies within the faculties of Arts and Engineering is the product of a collaboration between the , the , and .
