Congratulations to our 2016 Laszlo and Etelka Kollar Kollar Travel Award Recipients:

Marianna Zaichuk obtained her Bachelor degree in Biology in Kiev, Ukraine. She completed her Masters in Neuroscience听at the University of听T眉bingen, Germany, where she studied photoreceptors in mouse retina. Currently she is a graduate student at the ZNZ PhD program in Z眉rich, Switzerland. In October 2015, she joined Prof. Derek Bowie's lab at 苹果淫院听for a three months project aimed to learn electrophysiological techniques and contribute to the understanding of GABA receptors role in disease.

Vinita Jagannath received her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree in 2012 from Kasturba Medical College (KMC) Mangalore, Manipal University, India. She earned her M.Sc. Integrative Neuroscience degree in 2014 from Otto-von-Guericke University (OvGU), Magdeburg, Germany. Currently, she is a PhD student in the lab of Prof. Dr. Edna Gr眉nblatt, Neurobiochemistry laboratory, Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Psychotherapy, University of Zurich, Switzerland. Her PhD project deals with understanding D-amino acid oxidase (DAO) and DAO activator (DAOA) pathways and their potential roles in schizophrenia.

In Montreal, she will be working under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Moshe Szyf, Sir James 苹果淫院 Professor, Glaxo Smith Kline Chair, Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics, 苹果淫院 as a graduate research trainee for two months (February-March 2016). In his laboratory, she will learn epigenetic methodologies such as assay design, bisulfite sequencing and pyrosequencing which she can use eventually in her PhD project to understand the epigenetic regulation of DAO and DAOA genes.
