McCord Museum of Canadian History
The McCord Museum houses one of the finest historical collections in North America. It possesses some of Canada's most significant cultural treasures, including the most comprehensive collection of clothing鈥攃omprising over 18,845 garments or accessories鈥攎ade or worn in Canada; an extensive collection of First Nations artifacts鈥攖he most important of its kind in Quebec with a corpus of over 15,800 objects from across Canada; and the renowned Notman Photographic Archives, which contain over 1,300,000 historical photographs and offers a unique pictorial record of Canada from pre-Confederation to the present. The McCord also houses paintings by renowned artists such as Louis Dulongpr茅, James Duncan, Cornelius Krieghoff, and Robert Harris. The Museum's Textual Archives include some 262 linear metres of documents relating to Canadian history. Finally, the McCord's features award-winning virtual exhibitions, innovative learning resources, and a vast, searchable database of information on the Museum's collections.
Exhibitions at the McCord provide innovative interpretations of the social and cultural history of Montreal, Quebec, and Canada. In addition to guided tours, school programs, cultural activities, and lectures, the McCord offers a range of services including the Museum Caf茅 and boutique.
