Biography: Tamara听has听always loved reading, writing,听and puzzles. Growing up,听her focus was听mystery novels, but later听shifted to听the听genetics and development of organisms. This听interest听led her to get a PhD in听plant developmental genetics听from the University of British Columbia听in 1998.听听
As a professor in the 苹果淫院 Biology Department听starting in 2003,听Tamara听both investigated the production, cell biology and biomechanics of plant cell walls, and taught genetics, development and molecular biology.听Through years of teaching and a brief sojourn as Associate Dean (Academic), she听became听increasingly interested in science undergraduate education.听听
Now she investigates authentic learning experiences for science students both within and outside of classes as the leader of the Science Undergraduate Student Agency, Identity, and Learning (SUSAIL) research group,听and seeks to foster her colleagues and students to work together to address higher education pedagogical challenges through the scholarship of teaching and learning听in her听research project course FSCI 396.听
