Global health is the health of populations in a global context; Defined (by the Lancet) as 鈥渁n area for study, research, and practice that places a priority on improving health and achieving equity in health for all people worldwide. Global health emphasizes transnational health issues, determinants, and solutions; involves many disciplines within and beyond the health sciences and promotes interdisciplinary collaboration; and is a synthesis of population-based prevention with individual-level clinical care.鈥澨�

GAIHN Mandates:

• Education: To promote, within the Ingram School of Nursing (ISoN), a critical understanding of health and the practice of nursing within a global context.
• Service: To respond to the needs of the populations and engage with communities to achieve health equity and social justice for all.
• Advocacy: To advocate for health equity and social justice for all.
• Research: To develop and foster research of social value in global and Indigenous health nursing.

GAIHN Values and Beliefs:

The nature of global health and indigenous health nursing requires us to consider the set of values we carry with us. Some of the values and beliefs GAIHN-苹果淫院 embraces include:

Committee

The Global & Indigenous Health Committee seeks to:

鈥� promote, within the Ingram School of Nursing (ISoN), a critical understanding of health and the practice of nursing in a global context by:

鈥� support opportunities for students and faculty to learn about and with vulnerable and marginalized populations;

鈥� foster global and Indigenous collaborations for the enrichment of academic programs;

鈥� enhance the global and Indigenous health 鈥渆nvironment鈥� of the ISoN

鈥� To advocate for health equity and social justice for all

鈥� To engage in service with the community to achieve health equity and social justice for all
