Seminars are held on Thursdays at 10 AM in-person at the DUFF Amphitheater. Check regularly as changes to the schedule are made frequently.听MIMM student seminar guidelines are described in detail in our Departmental Handbooks. For MIMM Graduate Students:

  • Attendance at the MIMM Graduate Student Seminars continues to be compulsory for students enrolled in the M.Sc., Fast-Track, and Ph.D programs during both the Fall and Winter terms.
  • Students are permitted to miss only one (1) seminar day per term.
  • Students must complete an online attendance form to confirm their presence at each seminar.
  • To access this form, students will receive a QR code from the seminar facilitator after the final presentation of the day at each seminar.
  • The form also contains a section where students must provide a brief summary of the main insights gained from attending the seminar.

Graduate Student Research Day

The next Research Day will be held on听May 2024. Final date will be available towards the end of 2023.

Here is more information on our Graduate Student Research Day in May 2023:

Keynote speaker: 2023
Dr. Jonathan Abraham
Assistant Professor, Department of Microbiology, Harvard Medical School

Jonathan Abraham is a physician-scientist and obtained a bachelor鈥檚 degree in biochemical sciences from Harvard College (2005), a Ph.D. in Biophysics from Harvard University (2010), and an M.D. from Harvard Medical School (2012) as part of the Harvard-MIT M.D.-Ph.D. Program. He then completed a residency in Internal Medicine at Brigham & Women鈥檚 Hospital, and a fellowship in Infectious Diseases in the Brigham & Women鈥檚 Hospital/Massachusetts General Hospital combined program. Funded by a Burroughs Wellcome Career Award for Medical Scientists and an NIH Director鈥檚 Early Independence Award, he launched a research laboratory in the Department of Microbiology at Harvard Medical School in 2017. He initially got excited about a career in infectious diseases by reading Laurie Garrett鈥檚 鈥淭he Coming of the Plague鈥 as a high school student. The book warns us of 鈥渘ewly emerging diseases in a world out of balance.鈥 Jonathan has since spent his research career thinking about how we can better prepare ourselves for outbreaks before they happen. He continues to care for patients as an Infectious Diseases doctor at the Harvard Medical School-Affiliated Brigham & Women鈥檚 Hospital in Boston.
