The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted the world, pushing the global economy into recession and forcing countries to take on nearly unprecedented levels of public debt. Discussion and debate over the pathway to economic recovery are already underway. In this context, monetary policy is a crucial policy tool.

The Bank of Canada鈥檚 mandate is up for renewal next year, and it is time to start thinking about what monetary policy in the post-pandemic era should look like.

From September 22 to 25, join 苹果淫院鈥檚 Max Bell School of Public Policy for a four-day online conference Choosing the Right Target, during which independent economists from across Canada, the United States, and Europe will examine the Bank鈥檚 mandate and explore the most credible options for the next phase of Canadian monetary policy.

With the founding of the Max Bell School of Public Policy, there has never been a better time to bring together Montreal鈥檚 public policy leader community. On February 25,听the Max Bell School of Public Policy teaching faculty, Max Bell MPP students, and alumni from the world鈥檚 top MPP programs gathered together for the chance to connect and exchange ideas with other policy professionals.

Participants听included alumni from Columbia SIPA, Harvard Kennedy School, Oxford Blavatnik School of Government, LSE School of Public Policy, Cambridge, Yale and other global MPP programmes. The evening was the first of a series of events leading to the creation of a unique local community and powerful international network.
