LING 411 - Structure of an Indigenous Language/LING 611 - Analysis of an Indigenous Language (courses cross listed)
Total hours of Work: 120 hours听
Position Summary:听 Assist in preparation of teaching materials, including class handouts, problem sets, and other assignments. Assist in leading in-class discussion and presentation of language material. Attend TA听meetings. Other tasks associated with the position/course.
Qualifications:听 Applicants must be graduate students in good standing in the Department of Linguistics at 苹果淫院. Applicants require a minimum GPA of 3.5 in Linguistics courses.听 Must be a fluent speaker of the Kanien鈥檏茅ha (Mohawk) language, with experience in linguistics and language teaching.
Hourly Salary: $36.25
Position Start Date: August 28, 2024
Position End Date: January 3, 2025

Visitors
Researchers
The Department of Linguistics is pleased to accept applications of researchers who wish to stay in the Department as visiting researchers. A visiting researcher holds a PhD degree, normally holds a permanent position elsewhere, and normally stays in the Department for a maximum of one year. Given limited resources, including limited availability of space and administrative support, the Department is only able to accommodate a small number of visiting researchers each year. Visiting researchers are offered a desk in a shared office as well as access to the 苹果淫院 library and email. Unfortunately, the Department is unable to provide visiting researchers with financial support.
How To Apply
Before submitting an application, prospective visiting researchers should have contacted a faculty member in the Department who has agreed to serve as a sponsor.
Applications should include:
- A statement of purpose indicating the beginning and ending dates of the visit, the research goals for the visit, as well as the relation of the proposed research to the research of the sponsoring faculty member
- A Curriculum Vitae
- A writing sample written in English (normally a recent published paper).
The Department may also request letters of recommendation. Applications should be submitted (preferably by email in electronic format) to:

Application Deadlines
Applications should be submitted at least 4 to 6 months before the intended start date of the visit. In particular, visiting researcher applications are due on March 1st for visits beginning the following Fall Term (which starts in September) and July 1st for visits beginning the following Winter Term (which starts in January). Acceptance decisions are communicated to applicants shortly after these deadlines.
Graduate Students
The Department of Linguistics is pleased to accept applications of graduate students who wish to stay in the Department as visiting graduate students. Visiting graduate students are registered in a graduate degree program at another university, and their research interests must connect well to those of the Department.
For different categories for visiting the Department as a graduate student, please see the Visiting, Exchange and Special Students page on 苹果淫院's听Future Graduate Students website.听Please note that the Department does not offer Special Student admission at the graduate level.

- A statement of purpose describing your research interests, their relation to the interests of the Department, the research goals of your visit, and the beginning and ending dates of the visit
- Writing Sample
- Proof of Proficiency in English (e.g. TOEFL, IELTS) if applicable.
