Global and Indigenous Health Nursing logoGlobal and Indigenous Health Nursing (GAIHN) 苹果淫院 is the body overseeing global health in the Ingram School of Nursing

Global health is the health of populations in a global context; Defined (by the Lancet) as 鈥渁n area for study, research, and practice that places a priority on improving health and achieving equity in health for all people worldwide. Global health emphasizes transnational health issues, determinants, and solutions; involves many disciplines within and beyond the health sciences and promotes interdisciplinary collaboration; and is a synthesis of population-based prevention with individual-level clinical care.鈥

GAIHN-苹果淫院 emphasizes that global health is about local and worldwide health improvement, reduction of disparities, recognizing the health disparities that exist for marginalized and vulnerable populations, including Indigenous people, persons in situations of homelessness and poverty, immigrant and refugee communities, and other vulnerable populations.

GAIHN Mandates:

  • To promote, within the Ingram School of Nursing, a critical understanding of health and the practice of nursing from a global (health) perspective, including the health of marginalized populations within and outside Canada
  • To advocate as a school of nursing in support of social justices in relation to global health issues.

苹果淫院 is located on land which has long served as a site of meeting and exchange amongst Indigenous Peoples, including the Haudenosaunee and Anishinabeg Nations. 苹果淫院 honours, recognizes, and respects these nations as the traditional stewards of the lands and waters on which peoples of the world now gather. Today, this meeting place is still the home to many Indigenous Peoples from across Turtle Island. We are grateful to have the opportunity to work on this land.
