Dr. Theresa Gyorkos is the Director of the Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization (PAHO/WHO) Collaborating Centre (CC) for Research and Training in Parasite Epidemiology and Control (CAN-88).

This CC was established in 2015 and is based in the Department of Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Occupation Health at Æ»¹ûÒùÔº. It is currently in its second term (2019-2023).

Dr. Theresa Gyorkos participated in the elaboration of the 2021-2030 Road Map for Neglected Tropical Diseases. She is a member of the Working Group on Monitoring, Evaluation and Research of Neglected Tropical Diseases. This Working Group recently developed a Framework for the Monitoring and Evaluation of Neglected Tropical Diseases, a companion document to the Road Map.

Training

At the request of the WHO,Ìý the Collaborating Centre offers short courses and training opportunities to managers of control programmes on parasite controlÌýand related epidemiological and biostatistical methods.

Publications & documents

When requested, the Collaborating Centre contributes to WHO publications and documents of the Department of Control of Neglected Tropical Diseases.

Links with other WHO CCs

The Collaborating Centre interacts with other WHO CCs on priority needs in parasite prevention and control, particularlyÌýrelated to epidemiological and biostatistical methods.Ìý

In 2015, EBOH was designated by the World Health Organization

The Department of Epidemiology, Biostatistics &ÌýOccupational Health is theÌýPAHO/WHO Collaborating Centre for Research andÌýTraining in Parasite Epidemiology and Control.Ìý

In partnership with several Æ»¹ûÒùÔº units, the centre disseminatesÌýknowledge and providesÌýconsultation to policy makers.ÌýIts aim is to decrease the burden of diseases associated with parasite infections worldwide.Ìý
