Created by Dialogue Æ»¹ûÒùÔº and coordinated locally by the community networks the Health and Social Community Leadership Bursary Program is divided into three (3) categories:Ìý Ìý Ìý Ìý Ìý Ìý Ìý Ìý Ìý Ìý Ìý Ìý Ìý Ìý Ìý Ìý Ìý Ìý Ìý Ìý

Category 1 BursaryÌý

Intended to provide a financial incentive to students:

  • From selected Quebec regions
  • With appropriate English and French language skills
  • Pursuing full-time college or university studies in the area of health and social servicesÌý
  • In a government recognized educational institution located outside their region.

ÌýStudents who are awarded bursaries must commit to working in their home region following the successful completion of their studies to work for a minimum of one year in a public health and social services institution or related organization

Category 2ÌýBursaryÌý

Intended to provide a financial incentive to students:

  • From selected Quebec regions
  • With appropriate English and French language skills
  • PursuingÌýfull-time college or university studiesÌýin the area of health and social servicesÌý
  • In a government recognized educational institution located within their region.Ìý

Students who are awarded bursaries must commit to working in their home region following the successful completion of their studies to work for a minimum of one year in a public health and social services institution or related organization.

Category 3 BursaryÌý

Intended to provide a financial incentive to students:

  • From selected Quebec regions covered by the program
  • Possessing an acceptable knowledge of English and French language skillsÌý
  • Pursuing full-time secondary school vocational training in the area of health and social services
  • In a government recognized educational institution located within their region.Ìý

Students who are awarded bursaries must commit to working in their homeÌýregion following the successful completion of their studies to work for a minimum of one year in a public health and social services institution or related organization.Ìý

For the 2019-2020Ìýacademic year, the budget allocated by Dialogue Æ»¹ûÒùÔº for the Bursary Program is $220,000:

Category 2 Bursary

Category 3 Bursary

University: Up to $10,000 per student registered for full-time studies.

Cégep / college: Up to $5,000 per student registered for full-time studies.

UniversityÌý: Up to $5,000 per student registered for full-time studies.

Cégep / college: Up to $2,500 per student registered for full-time studies.

Secondary school vocational training: Up to $2,000 per student registered for full-time studies

Students wishing to apply for the Bursary Program must submit their application forms to the contact person at the participating community network in their region.

Eligibility Criteria

The Health and Social Services Community LeadershipÌýBursary Program is openÌýto students from selected Quebec regions who:

  1. Are Canadian citizens who have resided in a selected Quebec region for at least 2 years (24 months);
  2. Are permanent residents who have resided in a selected Quebec region for at least 2 years (24 months);
  3. Have appropriate English and French language skills to provide health and social services in a health and services institution in Quebec;
  4. Are pursuing studies in a government recognized educational institution located outside their region (category 1 bursary) / in their region (category 2 bursary);
  5. Are currently accepted into or pursuing full-time studies (the educational institution that the students are attending considers them as such) in a government recognized health and social services program that permits the students to work professionally in Quebec upon completion of studies;
  6. ÌýTheir program of study is preparing them for careers where they will be providing direct care and services;
  7. Are registered full-time for the 2019-2020Ìýacademic year;
    Please note that the Bursary Program is not applicable to students:
    • Registered in independent study programs or in programs that doÌýnot lead to a degree or diploma;
    • Registered in distance and online training programs.
  8. ÌýAre committed, following completion of studies, to working in their home region in a public health and social services institution or related organization for a minimum of one year, for each bursary awarded;
  9. Agree to participate inÌýany follow-up, monitoring or evaluation of the Program conductedÌýby Dialogue Æ»¹ûÒùÔºÌýand/or the community network.

ÌýThe community network is responsible for ensuring that the students meet the Eligibility Criteria.

Evaluation Reports

To measure the Bursary Program’s impact and ensure it meets its objective to promote better access to health and social services in their language for Québec’s English-speaking communities, Dialogue Æ»¹ûÒùÔº mandated researcher Marie-Pierre Gagnon, PH.D, from Université Laval’s Nursing Faculty, to conduct a bi-annual monitoring with bursary recipients and with the community networks which sponsor the Program.
