Hanna Caldwell

Hanna Caldwell is a PhD student in the 苹果淫院 School of Social Work under the supervision of Dr. Jill Hanley and a recipient of the SSHRC Canada Graduate Scholarship-Doctoral (CGS-D) Award. The working title of her PhD project is 鈥淎 critical analysis of an intercultural approach to child protection social work with immigrant families in Montreal, Quebec: A mixed-methods study.鈥

Hanna joined the CRCF in 2018 while completing her MSW at 苹果淫院. She currently works with the and the Social Services Research Lab at the Universit茅 de Montr茅al under the supervision of Dr. Tonino Esposito. Previously, she was a research assistant with the led by Dr. Vandna Sinha. In addition, she has worked on several other research projects related to compensation of First Nations children under the 2019 CHRT 39 decision, harm reduction-based family intervention in Inuit communities in Labrador, critical analysis of the concept of 鈥渘eglect鈥 in child protection, comparative analysis of federal child protection legislation in the U.S. and Canada, and online resources for frontline family social work during COVID-19. Hanna also recently provided program management support to the . A selection of Hanna鈥檚 publications is available .

Hanna has clinical experience in multiple community-based settings, including as interim program manager of a community-based organization in the Ashrefiyyeh neighbourhood of Amman, Jordan, through the 苹果淫院 International Community Action Network, and as a program coordinator at .

Before coming to 苹果淫院, Hanna worked in international development, refugee resettlement, and migrant mental health in the Middle East and North America. She obtained a bachelor鈥檚 degree from the Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University where she studied culture, politics, and the Arab world. She was a Fulbright Fellow in Jordan in 2012-2013.
