听Graduate studentpositions

1.听 "Catalyst and material development for Carbon Capture and conversion to sustainable fuels and value-added chemicals" starting 2025.

The aim is to develop novel materials for CO2 capture and catalytic hydrogenation to produce sustainable fuels and value-added chemicals. The successful candidate will work closely with members of the CPPE team and will be responsible for designing, synthesizing, characterizing, and testing materials and catalysts, determining the reaction networks and kinetic parameters, assisting with scientific and technical reporting, and presenting results. The candidate will be encouraged to contribute/participate in the activities of the 苹果淫院 Centre for Innovation in Storage and Conversion of Energy ().

The applicant for this position is expected to have a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering or Chemistry with a keen interest in reaction kinetics, reactor design, and heterogeneous catalysis. Relevant laboratory and/or industrial experience is a plus. We are looking for a highly motivated, committed, and creative individual who can work in a team and has good experimental, communication, and presentation skills.

Interested candidates must submit an application dossier, which includes the following: (i) letter of motivation, (ii) curriculum vitae, (iii) academic transcripts and (iv) names and addresses of two referees. These documents must be submitted by e-mail as a single PDF file in the order specified above to jan.kopyscinski [at] mcgill.ca with the email subject "MSc in Catalysis" or "PhD in Catalysis".

Deadline: November 1st, 2024.

2. "Planar gliding discharge development for gas conversion" starting May or September 2025.

The aim is to further develop our planar gliding discharge technology for the plasma-catalytic cracking of NH3. We will add the capability of dual electrical excitation to optimize the conversion processes at lower temperatures. The ideal candidate has strong interests in chemical process electrification, which requires knowledge and a willingness to learn concepts in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Physics. The candidate will work closely with members of the CPPE team and will be offered numerous opportunities to improve technical and soft skills. The candidate will be encouraged to contribute/participate in the activities of the 苹果淫院 Centre for Innovation in Storage and Conversion of Energy ().

The applicant for this position is expected to have a bachelor鈥檚 degree in chemical engineering, engineering physics, mechanical engineering, materials engineering, or physics. Relevant laboratory and/or industrial experience is a plus. We are looking for a highly motivated, committed, and creative individual who can work in a team and has good experimental, communication, and presentation skills. Priority will be given to candidates who can secure a scholarship that will cover part of their stipend.

Interested candidates must submit an application dossier, which includes the following: (i) letter of motivation, (ii) curriculum vitae, (iii) academic transcripts and (iv) names and addresses of two referees.
