Congratulations to Will Lepry, a PhD candidate in Prof. Showan Nazhat's group was the recipient of an award at the MEDTEQ meeting October 2015 for his poster presentation on the sol-gel derived borate based glasses.
Here we are again! For those of you of certain age鈥ou may recall that I served as Chair some 20 years ago (!) from 1994 to 1999. So I had the, apparently, false idea that I finished that chapter until I was 鈥渃ornered鈥� to lead the department again for the next 3 years!

Dr. Priti Wanjara, Team Leader of the Coatings and Metallic Products group, has been the distinguished ASM Fellowship 2014. This highest of honours recognizes scientific and Engineering contributions in the development and application of materials in the aerospace, automotive, marine and power generation industries. Dr. Wanjara accepted this award during ASM鈥檚 annual awards dinner on October 14, 2014, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania during the Materials Science & Technology 2014 conference.
