The workshop "Une ville pour jouer", organized by the City of Montreal and by the Center for Interdisciplinary Research on Montr茅al, was a follow-up to research carried out by the "Mobility, urban planning, and environment" axis, directed by Juan Torres (UdeM), whose recommendations were published in the report Exploration des r么les possibles de la Ville de Montr茅al pour une politique de l'enfant (pp. 11-26). The purpose of this initiative was to stimulate reflection and the development of concrete and concerted actions to make Montreal a play-friendly city for children.

In front of a captive audience of public servants and community stakeholders, Juan Torres and his colleagues Katherine Frohlich (UdeM, CReSP), Mikael St-Pierre (CEUM) and Ipek Epikmen (UdeM) presented concrete actions to fuel collective reflection and to encourage the formation of a diverse and inclusive community of practice around play and childhood in the urban space.听You can view their PowerPoint presentations below.
In the interest of keeping a record of the workshop and of the insights it provided, a summary sheet was produced by CIRM team members Karolina Roman and Am茅lie Ducharme, under the direction of St茅phan Gervais. The sheet outlines the thinking that emerged from the workshop, such as the projects aiming to develop playing opportunities in the city for children. The PDF file is available below.
