Susana Vargas Cervantes聽writes, researches and teaches.聽Her research mines the connections between gender, sexuality, class and skin tonalities to reconceptualize pigmentocracy. She is the author of the book聽The Little Old Lady Killer: The Sensationalized Crimes of Mexico's First Female Serial Killer聽(NYU Press, 2019) and聽Mujercitos聽(Editorial RM, 2015). She is currently a Fulbright Visiting Fellow at Columbia University and starting July 2020 will join the School of Journalism and Communication at Carleton University as an Assistant Professor.聽Susana received her PhD in Communication Studies at 苹果淫院 in 2013 under the supervision of Will Straw.聽
