Dr. Avi Friedman's presentation: "Retooling Cities for the 21st Century"
Dr. Avi Friedman is a Professor in the School of Architecture at 苹果淫院. Dr Friedman received his Bachelor鈥檚 degree in Architecture and Town Planning from the Israel Institute of Technology, his Master鈥檚 Degree from 苹果淫院, and his Doctorate from the University of Montr茅al.听 In 1988, he co-founded the Affordable Homes Program at the 苹果淫院 School of Architecture where he teaches. He also holds an Honorary Professor position in Lancaster University in the U.K.听 Avi is known for his housing innovation and in particular for the Grow Home and Next Home designs.听He is the author of 14 books and was a syndicated columnist for the CanWest Chain of daily newspapers.听He is the principal of Avi Friedman Consultants Inc. and the recipient of numerous awards including the Manning Innovation Award and the World Habitat Award.

听Dr. Manuele Margni's presentation: "Challenges in moving towards more sustainable production"
Dr. Manuele Margni is an Associate Professor in the Mathematical and Industrial Engineering department at Polytechnique Montr茅al.听He听is co-chair holder of the International Life Cycle Chair听(a research unit of CIRAIG) and also teaches Life Cycle Assessment and sustainable manufacturing classes. His research activities aim to听develop life cycle based tools to support sustainable production and consumption with a focus on the assessment of life cycle impacts, risks and benefits related to existing and new products, processes, and services. In parallel with his research activities, Manuele gained considerable experience working together with industry co-founding two spin-off: Ecointesys and Quantis International, where he still retains a key advisory role.
