"Rapid innovationÌýand growth in renewable energy",Ìýa talk by MIT's Jessika Trancik

Jessica Trancik

Renewable energyÌýtechnologies have sustained high growth rates over the past 30 years [1], withÌýsolar and wind energy production growing at roughly 30% per year, due to aÌýcombination of technology cost improvement and public policy incentives. ThisÌýpresentation will share new research that hasÌýuncovered reasons for theseÌýunprecedented fast rates of improvement, and has probed the prospects forÌýrenewable energy to produce a significant share of global electricity. This isÌýa critical time in the development trajectories of clean energy technologies,Ìýand in global efforts to mitigate climate change.ÌýAs the data suggest, aÌýtechnology transition may be within reach.
