SP0067: 苹果淫院 Energy Project Interns

Status: 颁翱惭笔尝贰罢贰顿听Summer 2012

The 苹果淫院 Energy Project is a student-led cooperation of students, faculty and staff working together to find ways to use the 苹果淫院 Campus as a living laboratory for applied research with the objective of developing energy solutions for a sustainable future.

In order to render its work more effective, and to serve the general 苹果淫院 community听(including Vision 2020), the MEP hired two students to a conduct a situational听analysis of 苹果淫院鈥檚 energy system on the downtown campus over the course of summer 2012. The analysis was broken into two components, one undertaken by each student. These parts听present two perspectives of the energy systems on the downtown campus and are听unified in the final report.

The first component will take a technical perspective and summarize information regarding听how 苹果淫院 sources, consumes and distributes energy on campus. This will entail collecting听existing data from various authorities on campus, making it is accessible and understandable to听members of the 苹果淫院 community, and identifying areas where information is lacking (and听include rational for collecting it). It will look at how the available information is being used to听make decisions regarding energy use on campus, how it might be used more effectively and听whether additional information may serve to better inform the decisions.听

The second component will bring an organizational perspective to the analysis and attempt to听identify all the important energy stakeholders on campus. These might include administrative听departments, faculty research groups, campus organizations and student groups. It will seek to听map out how these groups interact and understand what role they play in the decisions made听regarding energy use on campus. It will then recommend ways that these groups might be able听to collaborate so as to share resources and create an energy dialogue on campus.
