Program Requirements

Drawing on methods in philosophy, media studies, cultural landscapes, vernacular architecture studies, and material culture, students in this option study the ways in which we conceptualize and realize the built world. How are architectural practices mediated by their broader contexts? The program consists of three semesters of coursework, to be completed in 12 months. Intensive weekly seminars held dur颅ing the first two terms focus on contemporary theory and research methods. ARCH 647 Cultural Mediations and Technology Studio is taken in tandem with ARCH 623 Project Preparation during the Winter term, culminating in the Research Report (ARCH 629).
