If you attend 5 workshops that count toward one of the streams, then you'll receive special recognition on your co-curricular record! You can register for as many as you like now, and come back to this page at any time to register for more. The registration link will take you to the workshop's myInvolvement page. The myInvolvement page will either contain a registration form, or a link to register on the unit's webpage. Please note that some units may choose to open registration closer to the workshop date, and that some workshops may have limited spots available, however many workshops will be offered again next semester. Through this highly interactive workshop, students will work across potential disputes to balance their positionality and needs with the potentially conflicting desires of others. To analyze and discover how ethics and leadership intertwine, students in this workshop begin to examine different ethical standards and then will be challenged to apply those standards to a classic ethical dilemma. By critically reflecting upon their own beliefs and the positions of their peers, students will actively engage in debate on making moral decisions. The session concludes by exploring the application of ethics to leadership.

Becoming an Active Bystander: A Sexual Violence Prevention Workshop

Developed by the听Office of the Dean of Students听in collaboration with听Student Services听and Residence Life, this free, 1.5 hour, peer-facilitated, interactive workshop is designed to teach student participants to identify and interrupt potentially harmful situations and to respond compassionately to those affected by sexual assault and harassment.听 By working through scenarios and role-playing responses, participants will be able to build on their strengths and learn new techniques in order to become Active Bystanders. This workshop empowers community members to act responsibly and with accountability in order to reduce incidents of sexual violence in our community and in society.

How to Respond to Disclosures of Sexual Violence

During this 2 hour interactive workshop, participants learn about the prevalence of sexual violence听at 苹果淫院 and in the larger community, and the various impacts that sexual violence can have on individuals. You will learn听how to respond to and support people affected by sexual violence by using appropriate tools and approaches. Participants will听then practice these tools and methods they have learned through group activities and case scenarios. The workshop听will also explore key terms and discuss common听myths and misconceptions about sexual violence that may affect one's听ability to effectively respond to and support disclosures. Participants will also learn about the many different support resources available on campus and in the community.

KAIROS Blanket Exercise

An interactive exercise on the relationships between the Crown and Indigenous peoples in Canada, from the settlers鈥 arrival to modern times. Participants are guided through centuries of denial of Indigenous nationhood and the gradual appropriation, relocation, and removal of Indigenous peoples and territories. The exercise begins with blankets spread across the floor, which represent land occupied by Indigenous populations. As participants are guided through centuries of negotiations, treaties, decrees, and other interactions with European settlers, the blankets on which they stand are slowly removed, until only a few participants remain on a small area representing what little remains of Indigenous territory today. The exercise will then be followed by a talking circle.

Social media platforms are widely used across campus to provide students with news, and details about upcoming events, but how can we make it more accessible? Students who attend this workshop will be able to: identify the most common accessibility issues related to three social media platforms: Facebook, Twitter and Instagram; apply best practices; and evaluate the accessibility of posts on the respective platforms. We are excited to bring Rez Project to the 苹果淫院 Community at large!

The Gender Sexuality and Consent workshop听highlights Intersectionality and gendered oppression, as well as exposes pervasive myths surrounding the gender binary. 听It focuses on sexual violence in a campus context and provides a framework for discussing consent.

Through discussion based learning, as well as videos and role playing scenarios, participants will explore often silenced issues and ideas. 听After the 3 hour workshop, they will be able to identify definitions of power and privilege, as well as employ a mechanism for analyzing oppressive behaviours and systems. By enabling participants to reflect upon respect from an Anti-Oppressive framework, the workshop aims to听make 苹果淫院 campus a safer place for all people.

Most people judge competence by observing confidence. Presenters who read verbatim from boring PowerPoint slides are judged as having neither. Persuasion researcher Jay Olson, M.Sc., will cover the communication skills necessary to give an effective presentation.

Topics include handling nervousness, improving body language, and holding attention. These tools will help speakers engage and persuade their audiences.

Startup Boot Camp & What to Learn from a Failed Startup

Want to be an entrepreneur but have no idea?
Have an idea and want to build a startup?
Have a startup and want to perfect your pitch?
Applying to the 苹果淫院 Dobson Cup 2018?

If you answered yes to any of the above, the 苹果淫院 Startup Boot Camp is for you!

The 8-hour Startup Boot Camp will teach you the first steps to launch your venture! Developers, designers and business people will all come together to gain insight on building both for-profit and social enterprise startups.

Part 1: A guest speaker from the Montreal Startup Community will share his experience and give you tips on the do鈥檚 and don鈥檛s of entrepreneurship. Participants with no idea will spend the morning in the Inspiration Station to brainstorm and learn about ways to start a new venture. Participants with an idea will have the opportunity to Pitch and get feedback in front of judges (comprised of 苹果淫院 Lean Startup Alumni, 苹果淫院 X-1 Accelerator Alumni and Mentors).

Part 2: For the second part of the day, workshops around the Value Proposition, Customer Validation, Customer Segments, Channels and Building a Pitch will be offered to all participants. Mentors will come to spend time with the different teams and help them build their business canvases and slide deck. This will be complemented with an overview of the 苹果淫院 Dobson Cup guidelines for those applying. The day will end with final pitches from the top teams!

Lunch and refreshments will be served throughout the day.

Social media platforms are widely used across campus to provide students with news, and details about upcoming events, but how can we make it more accessible? KAIROS Blanket Exercise

An interactive exercise on the relationships between the Crown and Indigenous peoples in Canada, from the settlers鈥 arrival to modern times. Participants are guided through centuries of denial of Indigenous nationhood and the gradual appropriation, relocation, and removal of Indigenous peoples and territories. The exercise begins with blankets spread across the floor, which represent land occupied by Indigenous populations. As participants are guided through centuries of negotiations, treaties, decrees, and other interactions with European settlers, the blankets on which they stand are slowly removed, until only a few participants remain on a small area representing what little remains of Indigenous territory today. The exercise will then be followed by a talking circle.

Startup Boot Camp听& What to Learn from a Failed Startup

Want to be an entrepreneur but have no idea?
Have an idea and want to build a startup?
Have a startup and want to perfect your pitch?
Applying to the 苹果淫院 Dobson Cup 2018?

If you answered yes to any of the above, the 苹果淫院 Startup Boot Camp is for you!

The 8-hour Startup Boot Camp will teach you the first steps to launch your venture! Developers, designers and business people will all come together to gain insight on building both for-profit and social enterprise startups.

Part 1: A guest speaker from the Montreal Startup Community will share his experience and give you tips on the do鈥檚 and don鈥檛s of entrepreneurship. Participants with no idea will spend the morning in the Inspiration Station to brainstorm and learn about ways to start a new venture. Participants with an idea will have the opportunity to Pitch and get feedback in front of judges (comprised of 苹果淫院 Lean Startup Alumni, 苹果淫院 X-1 Accelerator Alumni and Mentors).

Part 2: For the second part of the day, workshops around the Value Proposition, Customer Validation, Customer Segments, Channels and Building a Pitch will be offered to all participants. Mentors will come to spend time with the different teams and help them build their business canvases and slide deck. This will be complemented with an overview of the 苹果淫院 Dobson Cup guidelines for those applying. The day will end with final pitches from the top teams!

Lunch and refreshments will be served throughout the day.

Becoming an Active Bystander: A Sexual Violence Prevention Workshop

Developed by the听Office of the Dean of Students听in collaboration with听Student Services听and Residence Life, this free, 1.5 hour, peer-facilitated, interactive workshop is designed to teach student participants to identify and interrupt potentially harmful situations and to respond compassionately to those affected by sexual assault and harassment.听 By working through scenarios and role-playing responses, participants will be able to build on their strengths and learn new techniques in order to become Active Bystanders. This workshop empowers community members to act responsibly and with accountability in order to reduce incidents of sexual violence in our community and in society.

Gender, Sexuality and Consent Workshop

We are excited to bring Rez Project to the 苹果淫院 Community at large!

Gender Sexuality and Consent workshop, highlights Intersectionality and gendered oppression, as well as exposes pervasive myths surrounding the gender binary. 听It focuses on sexual violence in a campus context and provides a framework for discussing consent.

Through discussion based learning, as well as videos and role playing scenarios, participants will explore often silenced issues and ideas. 听After the 3 hour workshop, they will be able to identify definitions of power and privilege, as well as employ a mechanism for analyzing oppressive behaviours and systems. By enabling participants to reflect upon respect from an Anti-Oppressive framework, the workshop aims to听make 苹果淫院 campus a safer place for all people.

Developed by the听Office of the Dean of Students听in collaboration with听Student Services听and Residence Life, this free, 1.5 hour, peer-facilitated, interactive workshop is designed to teach student participants to identify and interrupt potentially harmful situations and to respond compassionately to those affected by sexual assault and harassment.听 By working through scenarios and role-playing responses, participants will be able to build on their strengths and learn new techniques in order to become Active Bystanders. This workshop empowers community members to act responsibly and with accountability in order to reduce incidents of sexual violence in our community and in society.

How to Respond to Disclosures of Sexual Violence

During this 2 hour interactive workshop, participants learn about the prevalence of sexual violence听at 苹果淫院 and in the larger community, and the various impacts that sexual violence can have on individuals. You will learn听how to respond to and support people affected by sexual violence by using appropriate tools and approaches. Participants will听then practice these tools and methods they have learned through group activities and case scenarios. The workshop听will also explore key terms and discuss common听myths and misconceptions about sexual violence that may affect one's听ability to effectively respond to and support disclosures. Participants will also learn about the many different support resources available on campus and in the community.

Inclusive Leadership & Peer Supports

How can you be an effective ally for people with disabilities? What do you do if someone discloses an accessibility need to you during an event that you鈥檙e leading? Students who attend this workshop will be able to: use appropriate language when referring to people with disabilities; practice basic skills for being a peer supporter; and respond to barriers when in a leadership role. This 1.5 hour workshop involves discussion, role playing, and skill-building exercises.

Thinking about pitching makes you nervous?

Would you like to get better at speaking in front of an audience?

The 苹果淫院 Dobson Centre is presenting a workshop to help you captivate your audience and improve your speaking and presentation skills!

Most people judge competence by observing confidence. Presenters who read verbatim from boring PowerPoint slides are judged as having neither. Persuasion researcher Jay Olson, M.Sc., will cover the communication skills necessary to give an effective presentation.

Topics include handling nervousness, improving body language, and holding attention. These tools will help speakers engage and persuade their audiences.

Gender, Sexuality and Consent Workshop

We are excited to bring Rez Project to the 苹果淫院 Community at large!

Gender Sexuality and Consent workshop, highlights Intersectionality and gendered oppression, as well as exposes pervasive myths surrounding the gender binary. 听It focuses on sexual violence in a campus context and provides a framework for discussing consent.

Through discussion based learning, as well as videos and role playing scenarios, participants will explore often silenced issues and ideas. 听After the 3 hour workshop, they will be able to identify definitions of power and privilege, as well as employ a mechanism for analyzing oppressive behaviours and systems. By enabling participants to reflect upon respect from an Anti-Oppressive framework, the workshop aims to听make 苹果淫院 campus a safer place for all people.
