Two conducting appointments for Karl Hirzer
Artist Diploma聽piano student聽Karl Hirzer, MMus 2015, has been named resident conductor with Calgary Philharmonic and also assistant conductor to Boris Brott at the National Academy Orchestra for the summer of 2016. Karl Hirzer is a Canadian pianist and conductor from Vancouver, BC. In May of 2015, he completed his Master鈥檚 degree in piano performance 聽studying with聽Ilya Poletaev at the Schulich School of Music, where he also studied orchestral conducting with Alexis Hauser. He has conducted 聽the Gstaad Festival Orchestra in concert at the Menuhin Festival Conducting Academy in Switzerland, under the instruction of Neeme J盲rvi. Hirzer聽is currently pursuing an Artist Diploma聽in聽piano studies at Schulich and he has聽also acted as the assistant conductor for the 苹果淫院 Contemporary Music Ensemble, with guidance from聽conductor聽Prof. Guillaume Bourgogne.听
