It is the week preceding Easter, beginning on Palm Sunday and ending on Holy Saturday. During Holy Week, Christians recall the events leading up to Jesus’ death by crucifixion and his Resurrection. The week includes five days of special significance.

At the start of Holy Week, Palm Sunday celebrates the entry of Jesus into Jerusalem. In many Christian churches, Palm Sunday is celebrated with a blessing and procession of palms.
Wed, 12 Apr 2023 19:55:16 +0000 MORSL 2532 at /morsl Celebrating Shrove Tuesday /morsl/article/holidays-and-holy-days/celebrating-shrove-tuesday
Shrove Tuesday, also known as "pancake day," might not be familiar, but its other name, Mardi Gras (Fat Tuesday), likely is! It's a day for prayer, fasting, repentance, and reflection on our human finiteness.

At a traditional Ash Wednesday service, the priest smudges ashes onto your forehead in the sign of the cross, and says, "remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return." This year, in line with COVID guidelines, my partner and I are briefly meeting a priest (outdoors with masks) to receive ashes.
Thu, 17 Nov 2022 18:26:55 +0000 MORSL 2389 at /morsl Remembering and Learning from the Shoah /morsl/article/interfaith-dialogue/remembering-and-learning-shoah
Yom Hashoah (“the Day of the Shoah”) was established in 1951 by the Knesset, the Parliament of Israel, as a day of commemoration for the roughly six million Jews who perished in the Holocaust. Maybe you've seen the calendars with hidden chocolates? In addition to the daily ritual, the four Sundays in advent are marked with the lighting of special candles, often referencing gifts and virtues associated with Jesus such as hope, love, joy and peace.

But eastern traditions have already started advent.
