Ice-ocean interaction at the inertial frequency
When the wind blows over the ocean, inertial oscillations are generated from the action of the Coriolis force. Oscillatory motion will then be visible in the ocean, or in the ice over the Arctic ocean. Our goal is to study the role of ice in energy transfers between the air, the ice and the ocean, at the inertial frequency. This process is important since inertial oscillations increase mixing in the upper ocean. A simple model, buoy data and a global model (MITgcm) are used.
