Canada鈥檚 Readiness for New Alzheimer鈥檚 Disease Diagnostics and Treatments

Alzheimer鈥檚 disease (AD) and related dementias are a growing concern in Canada, impacting people鈥檚 health and raising demands on the Canadian healthcare system.

While there is no cure, numerous therapies aiming to prevent, delay onset, and/or slow progression of this disease are bring investigated.听

Recently, the first therapy targeting a defining pathology of Alzheimer鈥檚 disease was approved in the US by the FDA and it is currently under review by Health Canada. Unfortunately, Canada lacks infrastructures that would be needed for timely diagnosis and treatment of eligible patients. What can be done to address this?

This webinar draws on key findings from The Conference Board of Canada鈥檚 report听Paving a Path for Value-Based Dementia Care in Canada: Focus on Early Alzheimer鈥檚 Disease听(to be released in mid-January 2022). Hosted by The Conference Board of Canada鈥檚听Isabella Moroz, Senior Research Associate in the Health Focus Area听, the session will engage a panel of clinician champions, policy experts, and people with lived experience in a dynamic discussion on this timely topic.
