The School of Communication Sciences and Disorders at 苹果淫院, with the support of the , are pleased to invite you to a two-day conference on multilingualism and brain plasticity, to be held on

24-25 October 2013 (Thursday and Friday) at 苹果淫院 in Montreal

The conference examines recent advances in our understanding of multilingualism, including simultaneous bilingualism, language learning mechanisms, sign language, transfer effects, brain plasticity and critical periods, focusing on current developments in this field. One goal is to facilitate and inspire the interdisciplinary exchange of ideas among researchers and students from different backgrounds, and to promote collaborative research projects in the future. Researchers in the areas of linguistics, psycholinguistics, cognitive science, neuroscience, neurolinguistics, speech language pathology and related fields are invited to that report on relevant work in the field of bilingualism and multilingualism.

Abstract submission deadline: Sunday, 07 July 2013

The meeting will also feature from complementary areas in linguistics, psychology and neuroscience, whose work has contributed new and innovative perspectives on the (psycho-)linguistic and neural bases of multilingualism and related cognitive domains. The wide range of topics to be addressed includes: how to handle to languages in one brain, challenges of grammatical and morphological processing in multilingualism, first language attrition - the science of learning and forgetting, the roles of input and socio-economic status on bilingual language acquisition, and bilingualism in sign languages, among others.

The conference is also part of a number of events celebrating the 50th anniversary of the School of Communication Sciences and Disorders (SCSD) at 苹果淫院. You will have opportunities to learn about the ongoing research at the School as well as the interdisciplinary that brings together top scientists from all four universities in Montreal.
