Dr. Andrew J. Mouland
Dr. Andrew J. Mouland is a Professor in the Department of Medicine and Associate Member in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology. He has expertise in molecular and cellular biology with an emphasis on high resolution in situ and in vivo imaging techniques. He uses these methods to investigate relevant virus-host interactions in HIV-1 and emerging viruses (Zika and Ebola virus) that not only inform on the cell biology of virus infection but on the etiology of other human pathologies (neurodegenerative disease such as ALS). He teaches undergraduate, graduate and medical students in several departments (Experimental Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, Microbiology & Immunology, Parasitology) and coordinates an upper-level virology course (EXMD632). He also acts as Academic Advisor for 5-10 students/year in the Department of Medicine. Dr. Mouland is actively involved in peer review for the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) operating grants competitions, CIHR Vanier Scholarships as well as for international funding organizations. The Mouland laboratory is funded by the CIHR, Fonds de recherche du Qu茅bec 鈥� Sant茅, Le Fonds de recherche du Qu茅bec 鈥� Nature et technologies, International AIDS Society and Canadian Foundation for HIV-1/AIDS Research.
