About the Speaker

Camille Orridge is a Senior Fellow at the Wellesley Institute, a research and policy organization seeking to improve health and health equity. She also recently served as a member of the federal council on the implementation of national pharmacare.

Beginning her career in Canada in health as a ward maid, Camille is a passionate advocate for social change and health equity. She rose to the role of CEO of Toronto Central Community Care Access Centre (CCAC), a nonprofit, serving close to 20,000 clients monthly, where she launched Language Services Toronto, a telephone interpretation service for non-English speaking patients of Toronto鈥檚 hospitals.

She later became CEO of Toronto Central Local Health Integration Network (LHIN), where she was in charge of allocating $4.2 billion to over 170 hospitals, long-term care homes, and community agencies, serving approximately 1.15 million Torontonians and hundreds of thousands of others who came to the area for care. Among her many achievements, Camille also co-founded Pathways to Education, a stay-in-school program for high-school students that has served over 18,000+ youth in Canada.

In 2021 Camille was awarded with a 2021 Top 25 Women of Influence Lifetime Achievement Award; the first time she received the Top 25 award was in 2012. She was also previously awarded the Health Equity Council Woman of Distinction Award and the Excellence in Medicine Award from the African Canadian Achievement Awards.

Camille holds a Master鈥檚 in Health Administration from the University of Toronto.
