The Æ»¹ûÒùÔº Journal of Sustainable Development Law (MJSDL) welcomes Dr. Dianne Saxe, Environmental Commissioner of Ontario, for a discussion of Environmental Accountability in the province Ontario.

Dr. Dianne Saxe will provide an overview of Ontario’s Environmental Bill of Rights, including past successes and challenges, and how upcoming changes will affect Ontarians’ environmental rights. Commissioner Saxe will also discuss topics from her recent annual reports, with an update of the government’s progress on environmental protection, energy conservation and greenhouse gas emissions reductions.

Dr. Saxe is the Environmental Commissioner of Ontario, a tough but fair watchdog over government compliance with the Environmental Bill of Rights. Prior to her appointment in 2015, Commissioner Saxe was one of Canada’s most respected environmental lawyers. A Certified Environmental Law Specialist, Commissioner Saxe was recognized in every Canadian and international legal rating service, including acknowledgement as one of the world’s top 25 environmental lawyers by Best of the Best, 2008 and as Best Lawyers’ first Environmental Lawyer of the Year for Toronto. Her five-year appointment as Environmental Commissioner will be focused on serving the Ontario Legislature, improving the effectiveness of the Environmental Bill of Rights and catalyzing better environmental, energy and climate outcomes, for and with the people of Ontario.
