Recently, he also played a critical role in developing the new UN Framework for Action on Land and Conflict. Quist鈥檚 lecture was entitled, 鈥淟eading Change from a Global Perspective.鈥� The lecture addressed four key areas: global structures and injustices, the need for diversity in perspectives, courage to lead, and change that is needed globally. Ms. Quist highlighted inequities in global pricing structures as an example of injustices. Her research engages especially with questions of gender and migration, including the reproductive vulnerability of female migrants and the rights of domestic workers, human rights of asylum-seekers, and state policy regarding migrant mobility. His research focuses on understanding how local land use and livelihood decisions influence and are influenced by dynamics at other scales, and what this means for development and sustainability in rural areas of the Global South. The main thrust of her research has been to examine the collapse of Palestinian nationalist politics in exile. Her recent ethnography, <a href="http://www.sup.org/books/title/?id=20689"><i>Refugees of the Revolution: Experiences of Palestinian Exile</i></a> (Stanford UP, 2014), won the 2014 Palestine Book Award, and the Middle East Studies Book Award at the 2015 American Anthropological Association meeting.</p> Thu, 16 May 2019 17:30:35 +0000 Latitude 1381 at /isid /isid/article/spotlight/spotlight-development-research-francesco-amodio <p>Francesco Amodio joined 苹果淫院 in 2015 as Assistant Professor, jointly appointed by the Department of Economics and ISID. He obtained his Ph.D. in Economics from Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona, Spain. He is a development economist specialized in quantitative methods. His research program is organized around two main pillars. One of them is the study of the constraints faced by firms and public organizations in developing countries.
