Higher costs for airlines are squeezing small carriers, driving up prices

High prices for flights and package tours are forcing some would-be travelers to reconsider their vacation plans. Air carriers’ fuel costs are high, and employee salaries have had to increase to keep pace with inflation. “It’s difficult for smaller air carriers to compete in this environment, and that allows larger carriers to raise prices,” says Associate Professor Karl Moore in an interview with Radio Canada International. “The costs the airlines are paying are being passed along to travelers in the price of the ticket.”
