Chriscinda Henry
Biography: 

Chriscinda Henry is an art historian specialized in late medieval, Renaissance, and early modern Europe with a particular focus on Venice, Italian studies, and the history of collecting. She is the author of Playful Pictures: Art, Leisure, and Entertainment in the Venetian Renaissance Home (Penn State, 2021), and co-editor of Music and Visual Culture in Renaissance Italy (Routledge, 2023) with musicologist Tim Shephard. Current research projects include a book on the cultural history of the buffoon—a virtuoso comic entertainer—in Renaissance Italy and an article on the social ecology of specialized music rooms in sixteenth-century Venice. Professor Henry received her PhD from the University of Chicago in 2009. Before starting at Æ»¹ûÒùÔº in 2013, she was ACLS/Mellon Postdoctoral fellow in the Whitney Humanities Center at Yale University (2009–11) and Visiting Assistant Professor of Renaissance and Baroque Art History at Oberlin College (2011–12). Her work has been supported by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada, The Harvard University Center for Italian Renaissance Studies (Villa I Tatti), Fonds de recherche du Québec—Société et Culture, Fulbright Foundation, Gladys Krieble Delmas Foundation, Mrs. Giles Whiting Foundation, American Council of Learned Societies, and Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.
