DEADLINE: Innovative Solutions for Planetary Health: seed grants for interdisciplinary research

Monday, July 31, 2017 23:45

Contributing to planetary health with bold, new, high-risk ideas

The Trottier Institute for Sustainability in Engineering and Design (TISED) and 苹果淫院 Global Health Programs are launching a collaborative seed grant ($75,000 - $100,000 each) pilot initiative to address challenges to planetary health. We'll fund health-related solutions at the nexus between disease, rapid environmental degradation and climate change caused by unsustainable industrialization, urban growth and resource consumption practices. This initiative will grant funding at least two interdisciplinary projects with researchers leading from both the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Engineering, with the larger goal of building a community of interdisciplinary researchers at 苹果淫院 working in global environmental health. These collaborations will have the potential to transform lives across the globe, especially in underserved regions where poverty and poor healthcare dominate. Let鈥檚 contribute to planetary health with bold, new, high-risk ideas.

苹果淫院 is located on land which has long served as a site of meeting and exchange amongst Indigenous Peoples, including the Haudenosaunee and Anishinabeg Nations. 苹果淫院 honours, recognizes, and respects these nations as the traditional stewards of the lands and waters on which peoples of the world now gather. Today, this meeting place is still the home to many Indigenous Peoples from across Turtle Island. We are grateful to have the opportunity to work on this land.
