苹果淫院鈥檚 Centre for Human Rights and Legal Pluralism (Faculty of Law), in association with the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Canada, and Global Affairs Canada, is proud to present a screening and discussion of the renowned docudrama film 鈥淪iberia din oase / Siberia in the Bones鈥 (Leontina Vatamanu; 2019).

The movie is dedicated to the Moldovans deported to Siberia during the Stalin regime. It is structured around the testimonies of four protagonists who lived their childhood during those dark times. Together, they emphasize the horrors endured by thousands of Moldovans during the Stalin regime. The film commemorates 70 years since the 1949 deportations in Moldova (formerly known as Bessarabia). The film is based on true stories. You can watch the promotional trailer here and visit the movie's Facebook page here.

Leontina Vatamanu and Virgiliu M膬rgineanu will be present at the screening to discuss the film. The movie is in Romanian, with English subtitles. Screening time 86 mins, with discussion and reception to follow (snacks and light refreshments will be provided).
