Wednesday, February 8, 2023 16:00to17:30

On Wednesday, February 8th from 4:00-5:30 pm, the Office of Indigenous Initiatives will host Tanisha Gallichon, Project Coordinator at the Montreal-based Iskweu Project, for its 2023 Winter Speakers Series. Tanisha will present a talk on the Iskweu Project鈥檚 work addressing the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Trans and 2-Spirit People (MMIWG2ST+) crisis in Montreal and Quebec.

The talk will take place at the Strathcona Music Building, Room C-204 (555 Sherbrooke Street West, Montreal) and refreshments will be provided.

The Iskweu Project, based out of the Native Women鈥檚 Shelter of Montreal, seeks to provide immediate assistance to families and loved ones in the event that an Indigenous woman, girl, or Trans or 2-Spirit person goes missing. Its aim is threefold: (1) reducing the number of missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls, and Trans and 2-Spirit people in Quebec; (2) offering support and ensuring adequate response from institutions when someone goes missing; and (3) reducing barriers in accessing support.
