Chinese strategic consultancy looks to work of Prof. Henry Mintzberg to understand domestic context
Shanghai-headquartered KMIND provides strategic consulting advice to billion-dollar companies. Its success is built on a blend of both Eastern and Western philosophies, according to President Noah Xie. 鈥淯tilizing Eastern wisdom doesn鈥檛 mean we can get rid of the Western theories,鈥� says Xie in a Forbes interview with Professor Karl Moore. 鈥淲e need to integrate both, East and West, to be successful.鈥� One Western management thinker that resonates with Xie is Prof. Henry Mintzberg of 苹果淫院 Desautels. Mintzberg argues that strategy is inherently dynamic, and proposes the 5 Ps鈥揚lan, Ploy, Pattern, Position and Perspective鈥� meant to encompass the holistic features of strategy. 鈥淗is theories, the results of his ideas, have become a reality in China,鈥� says Xie.
