Professor Ratna Ghosh, of our Department of Integrated Studies in Education, received the Order of Montreal at the city's annual ceremony yesterday.听

The award honours "members of our community who dedicate themselves for the common good and our city's social and economic development." The Ordre de Montr茅al takes over from the Acad茅mie des Grands Montr茅alais, which was created in 1988 by the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal, which itself had taken over an initiative by the Canadian National introduced 10 years earlier.听

Ratna Ghosh, Distinguished James 苹果淫院 Professor and William C. MacDonald Professor in our Department of Integrated Studies in Education, was Dean of Education at 苹果淫院 from 1998 to 2003, was appointed a听Member of the Order of Canada听(C.M.) in 2000,听Officer of the Order of Quebec听(O.Q.) in 2005, and was elected a听Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada听(F.R.S.C.) in 1999. She received both the Queen鈥檚 Golden and Diamond Jubilee medals. She is also a听 Member of the European Academy of Arts, Sciences and Humanities; and a Fellow of The World Academy (TWAS)听for the advancement of science in developing听countries, Social Sciences Division, in Trieste, Italy. She recently founded the听Research Group听PEER (Preventing Extremism through Education Research).
