Here, we present a fast, effective, and sustainable route for coupling diverse alcohols, amines and amides with CO2 via heterogenization of a natural metal-based homogeneous catalyst through decorating on functionalized graphene oxide. Combined synthetic, experimental, and theoretical studies unravel mechanistic routes to convergent 4‑electron reduction of CO2 under mild conditions.
Tue, 24 Sep 2024 18:48:36 +0000 rachel.dermo@mcgill.ca 1651 at /chemistry Chemical Society Seminar: Carla Spina- Exploring ligand dependent signal transduction to transform the treatment of inflammatory barrier disease /chemistry/channels/event/chemical-society-seminar-carla-spina-exploring-ligand-dependent-signal-transduction-transform-358413
Abstract:

Thu, 15 Aug 2024 19:14:21 +0000 rachel.dermo@mcgill.ca 1641 at /chemistry Thomas C. Preston -- jointly appointed to the departments of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences and Chemistry -- has been awarded a grant of USD$800,000 by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation. The grant will support Professor Preston’s research on atmospheric aerosol particles, with the goal of advancing understanding of the origin of life's building blocks on early Earth.
Fri, 27 Sep 2024 15:20:42 +0000 admin 1654 at /chemistry Chemical Society Seminar: Robert Gilliard- Uncommon Bonds in Boron Heterocycles: From Odd-Electron Molecules to Luminescent Materials /chemistry/channels/event/chemical-society-seminar-robert-gilliard-uncommon-bonds-boron-heterocycles-odd-electron-molecules-358412
Abstract:
Thu, 15 Aug 2024 19:13:11 +0000 rachel.dermo@mcgill.ca 1640 at /chemistry Highly functionalized all-cellulose nanocomposites via bacteria-enabled in-situ modifications /chemistry/channels/news/highly-functionalized-all-cellulose-nanocomposites-bacteria-enabled-situ-modifications-359562
Dr. Seyed Mohammad Amin Ojagh, from Prof. van de Ven's research group and his colleagues, introduced a novel class of highly functionalized nanocellulose-based materials for diverse applications, recently published in the Chemical Engineering Journal. This study involved the in-situ modification of bacterial cellulose (BC) with hairy nanocellulose (HNC), resulting in nanocomposites with enhanced physicochemical properties compared to BC alone.
Thu, 12 Sep 2024 13:28:23 +0000 rachel.dermo@mcgill.ca 1650 at /chemistry Chemical Society Seminar:Philippe Dauphin Ducharme- Nucleic Acids Electrochemical Biosensors for Point-of-care Measurements /chemistry/channels/event/chemical-society-seminarphilippe-dauphin-ducharme-nucleic-acids-electrochemical-biosensors-point-358411
Abstract:

Thu, 15 Aug 2024 19:11:09 +0000 rachel.dermo@mcgill.ca 1639 at /chemistry Chemical Society Seminar: Ive Hermans- The Role of Heterogeneous Catalysis in the Defossilization of the Chemical Industry /chemistry/channels/event/chemical-society-seminar-ive-hermans-role-heterogeneous-catalysis-defossilization-chemical-industry-358230
Abstract:
Tue, 06 Aug 2024 14:09:42 +0000 rachel.dermo@mcgill.ca 1637 at /chemistry Chemical Society Seminar: Gabriela Schlau-Cohen /chemistry/channels/event/chemical-society-seminar-gabriela-schlau-cohen-358420
Abstract:

Bio:
Thu, 15 Aug 2024 19:21:40 +0000 rachel.dermo@mcgill.ca 1648 at /chemistry Chemical Society Seminar: Corey Stephenson /chemistry/channels/event/chemical-society-seminar-corey-stephenson-358419
Abstract:

Bio:
Thu, 15 Aug 2024 19:20:46 +0000 rachel.dermo@mcgill.ca 1647 at /chemistry Chemical Society Seminar: Christophe Lachance /chemistry/channels/event/chemical-society-seminar-christophe-lachance-358418
Abstract:

Bio:
Thu, 15 Aug 2024 19:19:40 +0000 rachel.dermo@mcgill.ca 1646 at /chemistry Chemical Society Seminar: Hans Renata /chemistry/channels/event/chemical-society-seminar-hans-renata-358417
Abstract:

Bio:
Thu, 15 Aug 2024 19:18:46 +0000 rachel.dermo@mcgill.ca 1645 at /chemistry Chemical Society Seminar: Kevin Kubarych /chemistry/channels/event/chemical-society-seminar-kevin-kubarych-358416
Abstract:

Bio:
Thu, 15 Aug 2024 19:17:54 +0000 rachel.dermo@mcgill.ca 1644 at /chemistry Chemical Society Seminar: Alex Deiters /chemistry/channels/event/chemical-society-seminar-alex-deiters-358414
Abstract:

Bio:
Thu, 15 Aug 2024 19:15:21 +0000 rachel.dermo@mcgill.ca 1642 at /chemistry
