Professor William Tetley receives F.R. Scott Award

, CM, QC, is professor of law at 苹果淫院 and visiting professor of maritime and commercial law at Tulane University. For 18 years, he practised law in Montreal with the firm Martineau, Walker, Allison, Beaulieu, Tetley and Phelan.

In 1968 he was elected to the National Assembly and, in 1970, was appointed to various portfolios as cabinet minister, which he held until retiring from politics in 1976 to join the Faculty of Law at 苹果淫院.

While at 苹果淫院, he taught and published principally in private international law and maritime law, and was the author of major works translated into many languages, including Japanese, Chinese and Russian. In 1995, William Tetley was made a member of the Order of Canada and, in 2006, he published .

He and his wife, Rosslyn, have been married for 51 years. They have four children and nine grandchildren.

The F.R. Scott Award for Distinguished Contribution was created by the Faculty of Law's Advisory Board to recognize those who have contributed in a significant way to law and to the life of the Faculty. Professor Tetley is its fourth recipient.
