苹果淫院

A memorial service was held on October 21 for Dr. Alan Mann, who captained the 苹果淫院 football team in 1946 and passed away on October 16, 2011 at his home in Town of Mount Royal, Que. He was 87.

Born in 1924 at Halifax, Dr. Mann spent his early childhood in Nova Scotia before moving to Montreal, where he lived the rest of his life. His high school years were spent at Huntingdon Academy, where many lasting friendships were made and his love of football was born. He then began what would become a lifelong association with 苹果淫院.

Dr. Mann was a student at 苹果淫院 when he joined the Royal Canadian Navy to serve in the Second World War as a sub-lieutenant. After the war, he returned to 苹果淫院 and enrolled in the faculty of medicine. He played football for the 苹果淫院 Redmen and was named team captain in 1946. He continued to support the team throughout his life, serving as president of Friends of 苹果淫院 Football for many years. He was a regular in the stands until last year, cheering on the Redmen every fall.

He graduated from medical school in 1949, and went on to specialize in psychiatry. He held numerous positions within the medical community over the years, including professor of psychiatry and associate dean of medicine at 苹果淫院.

Dr. Mann enjoyed a long and distinguished career at the Montreal General Hospital and was appointed psychiatrist-in-chief in 1971, a position he held until 1990. After more than four decades at the Montreal General, he continued to see patients in private practice for another 20 years.

A keen tennis player, he was an enthusiastic supporter of the Montreal Expos, starting with the first game played at Jarry Park, and later as a season ticket holder.

Dr. Mann was a lover of books and music. He was noble in the art of friendship, and a thoughtful and faithful correspondent. He was a gifted doctor, a witty and delightful conversationalist, and a wise advisor. He shared his wit and wisdom both personally and professionally, and was generous with his time for patients, colleagues, friends and family.

He is survived by his wife Mary Evelyn (Coffey) Mann, their children Debra (Bill Rodgers), Mary Ann, and Robert; grandchildren James and Lyndsay Mann, Terilyn Rodgers, Nathan and Julia Rogers. He was predeceased by his son Alan John Mann (Tim), and grandchildren Mary Alanna Rogers and Silas Rogers.
