Debunking cancer-treatment myths spread via email

The Montreal Gazette: It鈥檚 hard to know what makes people generate nonsensical emails. Perhaps it gives a feeling of power to see one鈥檚 handiwork spread around the world. And that can happen, especially if the topic is cancer and the advice given about the disease appears to come from聽a reputable institution. One such preposterous email that has really made the rounds is titled 鈥淛ohns Hopkins Update: Alternative way to eliminate cancer.鈥 This diatribe certainly did not originate from Johns Hopkins University; and the 鈥渁dvice鈥 in it is so misleading that the university felt a need to circulate a rebuttal.
