Beakerhead festival attendees to dine on crickets

Many people would gag at the thought of snacking on crickets. But on Wednesday, the brave crew on the聽Calgary Eyeopener聽gave them a try and unanimously decided the insects聽actually聽taste like sunflower seeds.

"I'd do another one," said traffic reporter聽Angela Knight, who was the first to pop a聽crunchy morsel in her mouth. But she preferred the聽Crickers聽鈥斅燾rackers made from crickets which have been milled into a powder. The cricket powder is paleo-friendly, gluten-free and a surefire way to not get聽any聽legs or antennae聽stuck between your teeth.

Robert Nathan Allen聽was dishing out the snacks. He's the聽the Austin-based sales director for聽Aspire Food Group, which is raising crickets specifically for human consumption in the U.S., Mexico and Ghana.

The company was started by a team of MBA students from 苹果淫院 who won the 2013 Hult Prize for social entrepreneurship.
