Announcing the 2017 SEI Impact Internship Cohort

°Õ³ó±ðÌýMarcel Desautels Institute for Integrated Management (MDIIM)Ìýis pleased to announce the Social Economy Initiative’s Impact Internship cohort for the 2017Ìýyear.ÌýNow headingÌýinto its fifth consecutive year, the programÌýpairsÌýtop Æ»¹ûÒùÔº undergraduate students with social-purpose organizationsÌýforÌýpaid placementsÌýover the spring and summer months.ÌýPast interns have reported that the experience has allowed them to be more empowered to take on social impact and social change projects.ÌýIn turn, host organizations have benefited from the concrete management skills and youthful enthusiasm which interns bring to their operations.Ìý

Since 2013,Ìýthe SEI IIP has supportedÌý58Ìýstudent internsÌýwithÌý34Ìýdifferent organizations, primarily in Montreal.ÌýThe twelveÌýÆ»¹ûÒùÔº students named to this year’sÌýcohort are:

In addition to fulfilling their internship mandates, students contribute valuable research data to theÌýSocial Innovators' Integration Lab (SIIL), an observatory and research hub on social entrepreneurship and social innovation initiatives.ÌýStudents translate the practices and observations from their internships intoÌýdeeper learning experiences for researchers, community practitioners, and other students.

New this year, the program has partnered with several Æ»¹ûÒùÔº units to better support students with their understanding ofÌýequity and working in solidarity with community-based organizations, their capacity to systematically reflect and identify the skills they have gained throughout their mandates,Ìýand their ability to write compelling case studies. Over the past few months, representatives from theÌýDesautels Faculty of Management Soutar Career Centre,ÌýSocial Equity and Diversity Education (SEDE) Office, Æ»¹ûÒùÔº Career Planning Services (CaPS), and Æ»¹ûÒùÔº Library have lent their time and expertise to further enhance the studentÌýexperience.Ìý
